TMZ reports that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have a longstanding mutual dislike of one another and have refused to communicate, even about the raising of their 8-year-old daughter Suri.

The hard feelings on both sides extend deeply into their previous marriage, which Holmes spectacularly bailed on back in 2012, managing to gain custody of Suri in the bargain. Cruise appeared to have been thoroughly blindsided, while sources tell TMZ that Holmes felt as though the marriage – and Cruise – was draining the life out of her.

Interestingly, the issue in the Cruise and Holmes camps does not have anything to do with Scientology, the controversial religion Cruise has been a longtime devotee of.

The Church has a policy of getting those who disagree with its teachings declared SPs, or Suppressive Persons, and forbidding active members to socialize with them. as it was rumored they had done with Cruise’s former wife Nicole Kidman. Holmes was never declared a Suppressive Person, although she apparently thought she had been.

As for the former couple’s young daughter Suri, sources close to Tom insist he’s still involved in his her life, although he has been in London shooting the fifth installment of the Mission Impossible series and has not seen her in several months. Production on the film was completed last Thursday and Tom is expected back in LA to see Suri soon.

Tossing an even more complicated wrinkle into the mix is Holmes’ rumored relationship with Jamie Foxx – the pair were recently spotted holding hands.

TMZ reports that their Cruise sources had no comment on this potential new romance, but did say that he has been concerned in the past with other boyfriends of Holmes because they might influence Suri negatively.
