Anti-semitic remarks, property damage and terrorism are claimed neighbors.
Former neighbors of Justin Bieber have filed a lawsuit against him for assault. Jeffrey and Suzanne Schwartz claim that the top-tier pop singer spat in Mr. Schwartz’ face and terrorized the Schwartz family through drug use, aggressive driving and loud parties. The suit seeks damages exceeding $25,000 for assault and battery, emotional distress and trespassing.
The events are claimed to have occurred while Bieber and Schwartz both lived in a gated community in the celebrity-dense enclave of Calabasas, California. The suit comes almost two years after the Schwartz’ say Bieber committed the spitting during a conflict over Bieber driving a Ferrari fast in the neighborhood. The lawsuit claims damages to the Schwartz’ home caused by eggs that Bieber threw at it. At the time, the now-21 year old pop sensation had vandalism charges against him and he now continues on probation. The new complaint comes even after Bieber paid approximately $80,000 to the family to compensate for damages he caused.
The suit says the family suffered emotional distress from loud parties at Bieber’s home as well as from his frequent marijuana use. Melissa Victor, who is Bieber’s publicist, has not yet commented.
This was not the first wrangle between Justin Bieber and the Schwartz family. After the singer purchased his home in Calabasas in 2012, some of his bodyguards fired anti-Semitic invectives at Mr. Schwartz, calling him “little Jew boy“. The new suit also states some of the singer’s fans also targeted the Schwartz family with threats and ridicule. The suit claims that Bieber and his associates harassed, threatened and intimidated the Schwartz family “at every opportunity”.
Last weekend, Bieber was roasted on Comedy Central television channel. He made a general apology during the broadcast, saying he has lost some of his “best qualities”. He said he looks forward to being a person others can “all look at and be proud of.”
