‘Buffy’ star Nicholas Brendon arrested… again

Actor Nicholas Brendon, best known for his role as Xander on the cult TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was arrested on Friday in Tallahassee, Florida, and charged with property damage and criminal mischief. According to the police report, the 43-year-old allegedly caused between $200 and $1,000 in damage to his room at the Hotel Duval.

Brendon was in Tallahassee as a prominent guest of the comic book convention ALT*Con. He was released from jail on Saturday, but will be due in court on March 30. This is the third time in five months that he has been arrested.

Brendon, who also appeared in the shows Private Practice and Criminal Minds, was arrested last month in Fort Lauderdale on suspicion of grand theft and criminal mischief. He was also detained in Idaho in October of 2014 on for malicious injury to property.

The actor confessed to the Tallahassee Democrat that he has been dealing with depression. “I stopped taking my meds a while ago, which was a mistake,” said Brendon on Saturday. “It culminated yesterday with my taking some sleeping pills and then going into a blackout.”

In 2010, the star also landed a one-year jail sentence (which was suspended) for a charge of four misdemeanors, including vandalism and battery against a police officer. He attended rehab in both 2004 and 2010. “We are aware that Nicholas’ actions are of a much deeper origin—and we are working toward creating a healthy environment for him to thrive in,” said his rep at the time. “Nicholas’ disease is damaging and consistently misunderstood. We are doing everything in our power at Camp Nick to assure his recovery.”
