Robin Wright is getting hers on and off-screen.

The 48-year-old actress, who plays steely First Lady Claire Underwood on the hit Netflix series “House of Cards,” recently got engaged to 34-year-old Lone Survivor star Ben Foster. Apparently soon-to-be-married life is suiting Wright well.

“I’ve never been happier in my life than I am today,” the Golden Globe-winning star confided to Vanity Fair in the April cover story, which hits national newsstands March 17.

“Perhaps it’s not ladylike, but I’ve never laughed more, read more, or come more than with Ben. He inspires me to be the best of myself. There’s so much to learn. It’s endless. How great! It took me a long time to grow up. Love is possible as life is possible.”

However, Wright turns gracefully circumspect on the subject of her previous marriage to Sean Penn.

“I’m not in the business of talking about what ‘isn’t,’ ” she wrote in an email to Vanity Fair editor Sam Kashner. “I have too much respect for Sean and our two extraordinary children to sell our past joys and woes for public consumption and fodder.”

Wright goes on to praise her and Penn’s relationship for teaching them both a better way to love in the future.

“I believe we were together not only to have our beautiful children but to learn how to love for the next time around, the right way. What I’m looking for in people now is kindness,” continued Wright.

Wright and Penn have two children together: daughter Dylan, 23, and son Hopper Jack, 21. Their divorce – which Wright referred to at the time as “devastating” – was finalized in August 2010.
