Tonight’s midseason premier of “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” could wrap up plenty of questions, including whether the team will turn against the Skye out of their fear of her inhuman qualities.

Skye (Chloe Bennet) gained the power to cause earthquakes and the fact that she has turned alien is starting to earn her enemies on the team, and several team members will still be trying to recover from the loss of team member Trip (B.J. Britt), according to an E! Online report.

Skye was rattled after seeing how the team reacted to the transformation of Raina (Ruth Negga), opting to keep her new powers a secret from them — and she has a little help from Fitz (Iain De Caestecker).

Caestecker said in an interview with E! News and other reporters said that people “are starting to question things,” and he believes his character is helping Skye keep her secret because of how people treat him in the past. He currently “feels like he’s the only one that really understands what she must be going through,” Caestecker said.

It won’t be an easy secret to keep from the rest of the team, however, which is becoming increasingly distrustful of the inhuman. Caestecker said the rest of the characters can’t really wrap their minds around what is going on. He added that it’s hard to keep a secret in an organization like S.H.I.E.L.D.

The reaction of Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) toward the transformation of Raina was difficult to watch, and her confession to Skye that she wanted to exterminate Raina — obviously not knowing Skye’s secret — surely must have been devastating to Skye. Now, she has to wonder if Raina would try to destroy her if she knew the truth.

Henstridge said her character probably would try to destroy Skye if she knew “in the mindset she’s in right now,” according to the report. Simmons is taking orders from Coulson (Clark Gregg), and she believes the stakes are so huge that it is bigger than any one individual — including Skye — and that she is seeking to gain absolute via a scientific route of thinking.
