Brooklyn terrorists? 3 men accused of wanted to join ISIS arrested in New York City

One of the men even suggested he would like to kill President Obama, bomb Coney Island, or use an AK-47 to shoot police officers, according to authorities.

The Justice Department reports that three New York City residents have been arrested in a plot to travel to Syria to join ISIS to wage jihad.

Police arrested three Brooklyn residents in the plot: 24-year-old Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev of Uzbekistan; 30-year-old Abror Habibov of Uzbekistan; and 19-year-old Akhror Saidakhmetov of Kazakhstan, according to a Fox News report.

Saidakhmetov and Jeraboev appeared in federal court last yesterday in Brooklyn, and both were held without bail. They are charged with attempting and conspiring to provide material support to terrorist organizations, and Assistant US Attorney Douglas Pravda stated that both suspected had confessed to what they were accused of doing.

Habibov, meanwhile, appeared in federal court in Florida, and he also has no bail.

Law enforcement learned of the two men last summer after they were seen online expressing support for ISIS on Hilofatnews.com, an Uzbek-language site that was asking for readers to sign up for the terrorist group. They were able to link Juraboev to the initial post, according to the complaint, and later they met with him and learned that he wanted to join the group in Iraq or Syria, according to the report.

He even went as far as saying that he hoped to find a way to harm President Barack Obama to appease “Allah,” and that he would plant a bomb on Coney Island if ISIS wanted him to.

Authorities arrested Saidakhmetov at John F. Kennedy International Airport, where he was trying to fly to Instanbul in Turkey. Juraboev, meanwhile, had plane tickets for March 29 and Habibov is accused of funding Saidakhmetov’s tickets.

Authorities claim to have a recorded conversation with Saidakhmetov, who was allegedly interested in joining the U.S. military so he could either gather information on Islamic militants or shoot U.S. soldiers. He said he could just get an AK-47 and shoot at police, according to the complaint.
