Canadian fans will have to wait for their Chris Brown fix. The singer was denied entry to the country on Tuesday while attempting to make it to a scheduled performance.

TMZ broke the news that Brown, 25, was turned away at the border as he traveled to Montreal for a show he claimed was sold out. They reported the decision was likely made due to a Canadian law that finds persons convicted of assault “criminally inadmissible.” Brown of course is notorious for his assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

Brown was also scheduled to play a show in Vancouver on Wednesday. He is on a North American tour called Between the Sheets with singer Trey Songz, which continues in Illinois later this week. The start of the tour was initially postponed due to Brown finished required community service hours for his probation.

As Expose reports, Brown tweeted in response to the incident, writing, “The good people of the Canadian government wouldn’t allow me entry. I’ll be back this summer and will hopefully see all my fans!” The tweet has since been deleted.

The tour’s promoter, Live Nation, released a statement blaming “immigration issues” for the cancellation of the Canadian tour dates.

Brown is known for such songs as Loyal, With You, and Yeah 3x.
