Tom Hanks will be James Corden’s first guest on The Late Late Show

Will premiere on March 23rd.

March 23rd marks the first episode for new The Late Late Show host James Corden. His first guest will be two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks. This is a great time to announce the Oscar winning guest as the Academy Awards take place this Sunday, Feb. 22nd, 2015.

Of course, by the time Tom Hanks is on the show, the topic of the Oscars will be old news.

Corden will be taking over the show from Craig Robinson, who ended his nine-year run in the chair this past December.

Since then there has been a string of guest hosts filling in for Corden as he prepares for his first episode. Some of these hosts include, Will Arnett, Wayne Brady, Jim Gaffigan, Billy Gardell, Sean Hayes, Thomas Lennon, Regis Philbin, Drew Carey, Judd Apatow, Whitney Cummings, John Mayer and The Big Bang Theory‘s Kunal Nayyar.

Reggie Watts is leaving Comedy Bang! Bang! in order to take over as band leader and comedy sidekick of The Late Late Show.

This is not the only big change for CBS late shows. Stephen Colbert will be taking over for David Letterman as he will be stepping down from his chair after a 31 year run.

Ben Winston will serve as the showrunner and Nick Bernstein will be the new West Coast later night vp for The Late Late Show. The team also includes Rob Crabbe (The Tonight Show) as executive producer, Mike Gibbons (Tosh.O) as co-executive producer and head writer, Sheila Rogers (Late Show) as supervising producer, and Josie Cliff (One Night with Robbie Williams) as producer.

The Late Late Show airs weekdays at 1:35 a.m.
