'The Voice' judge will portray a popstar trying to record a country album on hit television show.
Christina Aguilera’s 2010 musical film Burlesque was nominated for the Golden Globe Award in the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category, and now the diva is ready to try her hand at acting again. According to People, Aguilera will have a guest role on the hit television show Nashville later this year, and will portray a popstar hoping to record a country album.
People reported on Friday that The Voice judge will play Jade St. John, a successful singer who has been “going non-stop since she broke into the music world ten years ago.
“She arrives to Nashville for a two-night stand at the Bridgestone, but her real dream is to record a country album – if only her label, who wants her to stay on brand as a pop star, would let her break out of her golden cage.”
Aguilera will be working alongside Connie Britton and fellow new mother Hayden Panettiere. The 34-year-old artist is producing a new TV show for ABC Family this year, and recently returned to The Voice‘s judging panel. Due to her hectic schedule and her baby daughter Summer Rain, Aguilera recently had to put her wedding to partner Matt Rutler on hold. The couple became engaged last February, but she recently told People that she doesn’t mind having a long engagement, and is more focused on giving Summer a good childhood.
“I want her to be surrounded by love and grow up feeling safe. That’s something I didn’t have when I was young and something I have been very vocal about providing for my children,” said Aguilera, who boasted that her daughter is a “pretty Zen baby.” “She loves people. She has these big, blue, soulful eyes and really takes you in when meeting someone new.”
