Faris reveals details of the terrifying ordeal in a new interview with Redbook.
Not everything can be funny. Comedic actress Anna Faris, who stars on the CBS sitcom Mom, covers the March issue of Redbook magazine and for the first time talks about her very scary first-time motherhood experience.
In the interview, Faris, 38, recounts the surprising events leading to her son Jack’s birth. “My water broke in the middle of the night at seven months,” Faris revealed. “They were able to halt active labor with magnesium…the goal was to be in bed for four weeks…but on the seventh day, I went into labor again.”
Their son was born in August 2012, nine weeks early. “Chris and I were so scared,” Faris remembers, referring to her husband, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt. “But when Jack came out, even though he was so tiny, he looked so good to us.”
Faris even feels the experience helped the couple grow as a team. “It’s one of those things that drives you apart or makes you closer,” she said. “I think that being a dad is very meaningful and rewarding to Chris. He’s a great dad.”
As US Magazine reports, Pratt has already talked about the experience, making a speech at a charity luncheon in December 2014. Pratt spoke at an event for the March of Dimes, which supports babies, and revealed his son’s initial health struggles. Born at only 3 pounds, young Jack persevered through jaundice and breathing problems in the NICU, eventually growing and maturing enough to go home.
“Our Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, happy, funny, and vocal boy,” Pratt said in his speech.
The rest of the interview with Faris arrives on newsstands later this month.
