Pink poses nude for PETA campaign poster

Grammy-winning singer Pink posed nude for PETA in an effort to shun fur. The animal rights organization’s advertisement is part of their “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign which has featured stars such as Eva Mendes and Olivia Munn in previous years.

The 90-foot billboard advertisement, which was originally shot by Ruven Afanador for People’s 2014 Most Beautiful issue, will be unveiled in New York City’s Time Square Wednesday. The unveiling comes just before the kickoff of New York Fashion Week, which begins Thursday.

Pink, 35, admitted that she has not always been fur-free in a PETA press release. She called that time in her life a “selfish phase” and said that she was happy to strip naked in support of the animal welfare organization.

She added that although she wore fur on occasion, she “wised up” and now she completely boycotts fur. Pink claimed that she wished everyone was “forced” to understand the “horrors” that animals go through in order to fuel fashion trends. She took it one step further by saying that she hopes “fur-wearers get bitten in the ass” by the animals that they wear. PETA is hoping to raise awareness for animal cruelty since many have been beaten, electrocuted, skinned and caged to obtain leather, skins, wool and fur with their campaign.

Pink sits smiling confidently in the photo, and she plans to pass that confidence on to her 3-year-old daughter Willow. According to People, Pink’s daughter asked her “Mama” if they could have a “naked booby butt dance party” and Pink responded with “I’m in.”

This is not the first time Pink has supported PETA. She paired up with Ricky Gervais earlier this year to create a CGI video that targeted animal skins.

Other celebrities, such as Pamela Anderson, also joined the organization’s effort recently. Anderson performed a burlesque routine that encouraged owners to keep their dogs indoors during the cold winter months.
