Fans want Latino Miles Morales as new Spider-Man

Sony and Marvel announced the biggest news to date for the entire comic book movie genre when they said they would be teaming up to bring Spider-Man and The Avengers together.

Along with this news, came the fact that Andrew Garfield would be recase as Spider-Man and Marvel and Sony are on the hunt for their new Peter Parker.

Many fans of the Marvel comics are calling for the studios to adapt a more up to date Spider-Man storyline where Hispanic Miles Morales takes the lead.

Miles Morales is the Spider-Man of Marvel’s Ultimate comics, a half black, half Latino teenager who takes the role of Spider-Man after Peter Parker’s death at the hands of the Green Goblin.

Similar to Parker, the teenager got his powers after being bitten by an enhanced spider, but was hesitant to use them until after Parker’s passing.

Social media has been abuzz asking Marvel and Sony to pick Morales over Parker in the new films.

@BenHBailey: “I love Peter Parker, I do. I grew up with him. But we’ve seen his story. A lot. Miles Morales would be something different.”
@lindazge: “Now, wouldn’t Miles Morales be a good way to avoid to the awkward recasting scenario?
@DylanRoth: “I’m a scrawny white guy with glasses & as a representative of that group I can tell you we’ve had plenty of movies. It’s time.

Spider-Man has previously been played by Andrew Garfield and Tobey McGuire.
