Scribd adds comics by Marvel to subscription service

The ebook and audio subscription service, Scribd, announced that it has added comic books from Marvel and several other publishers to its libraries.

Scribd already offers over 1 million regular books and novels and now their subscribers can enjoy over 10,000 comics and graphic novels from Marvel, Valiant, IDW, Top Shelf, Archie, Boom! Studios, Top Cow, Arcana, Zenescope, and more all for the small price of $8.99 per month.

Tip Adler, co-founder and CEO of Scribd, said, “We are very excited to take this step in expanding our subscription service beyond books. This addition gives comics readers the freedom of unlimited reading, while also giving our ebook and audiobook lovers the opportunity to discover comics and graphic novels.”

Until today, there was no subscription service for comic books like there is for music with Spotify and for movies and television with Netflix. Scribd is ending this problem.

Users of Scribd will be able to browse this new comics by character, series, and via collections curated specifically by the Scribd editors.

Marvel made its own announcement in regards to the partnership. Daniele Campbell, VP of CRM, said, “For decades, a driving force at Marvel has been the desire to put comics in the hands of new readers. Our partnership with Scribd allows some of Marvel’s greatest stories to sit alongside Scribd’s already vast and eclectic catalogue of content in an effort to reach readers who might not have access to a comic shop.”

If you want to check out the new comics Scribd has available you can for free as they are offering a one-month free trial for people interested in checking out the service. For more info, head to scribd.com.
