A stunning photo of Jennifer Lawrence just released on the Vanity Fair Instagram account Thursday pays homage to one of the most iconic poses that launched a million dorm-room posters. But it also reveals an amazingly strong, sexy, confident, and nude, Lawrence.
The photo—a homage to the iconic 1981 portrait of Nastassja Kinski, taken by photographer Richard Avedon for Vogue magazine—was done tastefully by acclaimed French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier at a private residence in the Hollywood Hills back in July 2014. A giant Colombian red-tailed boa constrictor spent most of the day cooped up in a perforated, extra-large storage container but the rest of the day slithering over Lawrence’s body. To compliment the daring shoot, the actress donned a timeless Hollywood glamour hairstyle with sexy, smoldering makeup.
“Jennifer has the perfect combination of strength, sexuality, and humor, and, above all, tomboy to pull this off,” said Vanity Fair’s style director, Jessica Diehl.
Vanity Fair stated that the star took a big scare when the boa took a fancy to her neck, but she proved to be very brave and nonchalant about having a serpent wrapped around her body as she coolly focused her eyes on the camera. Not only does the starlet show off her very sexy, smoky look in this shot, but she has created a very powerful message.
This stunning photo was pulled out the original Vanity Fair’s November 2014 magazine issue with Lawrence on the cover. That issue closely followed a recent nude photo hacking scandal that plagued many Hollywood A-listers. An anonymous group of hackers gained access to an abundance of Hollywood stars’ personal, often explicit, photos and posted them to various Internet pages, creating a sense of panic within the community over Internet privacy issues. Among the list were Lawrence’s personal photos that were stolen naked images of her, taken by her on her iPhone.
This removed photo from the issue has left fans wondering if the shot was left out of the photo shoot due to the nude photo scandal surrounding the “Hunger Games” actress at the time. The shoot was done back in July before Lawrence became a victim in the massive celebrity nude photo leak. She opened up to Vanity Fair about the invasion passionately.
“It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime,” she told the magazine. “It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world,” she added.
She continued on to express her rage to the magazine about the incident. “It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That’s why these websites are responsible.”
With the photos for Vanity Fair coming out, the actress has been able to pride in the photo shoot and being able to express herself, on her terms.
The photo can be seen in Vanity Fair’s March Hollywood issue.
