Marvel comics is creating a new group of super heroes and they are all going to be female.
She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, and Nico Minoru are Earth’s mightiest superheroines. They will be teaming up in the pages of A-Force, a series written by G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel, X-Men) and Marguerite Bennett (Angela: Asgard’s Assassin) and drawn by Jorge Molina (X-Men).
This new team will debut during Marvel’s massive Secret Wars event.
The spring crossover event finds the entire Marvel Universe disbanded and the Avengers no more. What’s left in Secret Wars is a patchwork landscape of all different corners of the Marvel U known as battleworld.
A familiar threat to hardcore Marvel fans will arise and because of it a new team, which will be called the A-Force, will be formed. This will all go down in Arcadia, which what Wilson describes as a feminist paradise.
Wilson says, “It feels almost like a great honor to be given the reins on something that has become so central to the narrative at Marvel and a big cinematic property as well”.
Marvel gave her and editor Daniel Ketchum free range to pick their own team, as long as every character was female. Wilson admits, “They’ve become very committed in the last couple of years to telling new stories, to gender diversity, to getting more voices out there so they said, ‘Here’s the roster. Go nuts.’ ”
They also created a new character called Singularity. Instead of being a flesh and blood human, she’s actually a cosmological event. She is a pocket universe that gained self-consciousness during the Secret Wars.
