Fox News not settling with Lindsay and Dina Lohan

Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina Lohan have come into the spotlight again this week after filing a defamation lawsuit against Fox News. The media corporation has stated that they have no plans on settling with them.

The lawsuit is filed against Fox host Sean Hannity and commentator Michelle Fields. The two had a conversation on air about Dina and Lindsay Lohan, stating that they are doing cocaine together.

“We will defend this case to the fullest. The remark about which Lindsay and Dina Lohan compain was made on live television by a guest nearly a year ago. We removed the segment from our archives altogether last February and also apologized on-air,” a spokesperson for Fox News said.

“At that time, the Lohan’s did not make any demands for money, and we are surprised they are doing so now.”

The mother-daughter duo complained that the 2014 episode of “Hannity” was a “direct smear on the character/reputation of Lindsay and Dina” and was a “false, defamatory, heartless and derogatory” claim.

The comments between Hannity and Fields came up during a discussion of drug use in Hollywood. Fields simply blurted out that “Lindsay Lohan’s mom is doing cocaine with her.”

Almost immediately afterward, Fox News apologized for the comment. Andrea Tantaros, a guest host of “Hannity,” said, “a guest made a comment about Lindsay Lohan and her mother that we cannot verify. We apologize for this oversight.”

This sudden lawsuit is likely due to Lindsay being more aware of her career and wanting to get back into acting.

“People should be able to feel that if they hear something on TV or read something in the media, it should be truthful,” Lohan’s lawyer Mark Heller said to Reuters. “Lindsay Lohan is on the way toward restoring her career and getting back on track, and something like this can be very fragile and hurtful to her.”
