Club Nintendo rewards ending soon

Nintendo recently announced that it will be ending its customer loyalty program, Club Nintendo, as of Jun. 30, 2015 after 6 years of operation.  Starting Mar. 31, 2015, Club Nintendo will no longer accept new users, product registrations, surveys, or any other actions which previously generated coins for their users.  While this is the end of an era for Wii, Wii U, and 3DS players, Nintendo is helping its customers use up their remaining coins by adding 117 games for coin purchase.

“We want to make this time of transition as easy as possible for our loyal Club Nintendo members, so we are going to add dozens of new rewards and downloadable games to help members clear out their coin balances,” said Scott Moffitt, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America.  This is a great opportunity for players who have been looking to pick up some new games, as the recently added titles include both Nintendo classics and new releases from all genres. Game prices range from 150 to 800 coins.   Limited posters, T-shirts and other non-game rewards are still available as well, though nothing new seems to have been added.

Players who obtain Elite status before April will have until May 1 to choose their 2015 Elite Status gift.  As an additional thank you gift, Nintendo will be giving away download codes for Flipnote Studio 3D on Nintendo 3DS to all Club Nintendo users at an undetermined date in Feb.

While little is known about what they have planned for the future, Nintendo has already stated that they plan to introduce another customer loyalty program at some point.  However, they will not use the same online currency, so all customers should make sure to spend their coins before they are deleted on the first of July.
