Susan Schneider, Williams' third wife, is suing the late actor's three children over allegedly unlawful distribution of assets.
Though his headstone may read “Rest in Peace”, there’s no peace or love lost amidst Robin Williams’s family, who find themselves at odds over the late actor’s estate.
It’s being reported that Susan Schneider, Williams’s third wife and widow, is suing his three children, Zak, 31, Zelda, 25, and Cody Williams, 23, over their inheritance.
According the Schneider’s attorneys, property was “unilaterally removed” from the home “days after Williams’s untimely death.” Schneider would later refuse the children entry into the house, asserting that she was “frightened of the co-trustees invading her home.”
Williams’s three children are quick to point out that Schneider and their father were married for less than three years, and in response to her lawsuit, claim that they are: “heartbroken” that Schneider has “acted against [Robin’s] wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate.”
Williams bequeathed his entire estate, valued at an estimated $50 million, to a trust with beneficiaries that include his three children, and as of a 2011 revision, Schneider. Movie memorabilia, such as Williams’s Oscar for his performance in Good Will Hunting, were left to the children as well.
Although Schneider isn’t disputing any of this, she does admit to wanting things like his tuxedo from their wedding; understandable for any widow. The children are reportedly willing to let Schneider keep these “knick knacks”, but have accused her of going after their fathers jewelry and watches.
The bickering isn’t expected to subside any time soon. Williams is still entitled to royalties from four films that have yet to be released. Factor in a big-time Hollywood life insurance settlement, royalties from dozens of films and TV appearances, and a ranch in the Napa Valley, and there’s plenty left to be resolved between the bereaved.
