Israel arrests eight men accused of working with ISIS

Eight Arab men were recently arrested in northern Israel and they are accused of providing aid to ISIS. Court documents state that the men were slaughtering riding horses and sheep in practice for combat.

All of the men are citizens of Israel and they were arrested in November and December. The charges against them are that they have become members of an organization that is illegal, they have attempted to contact a foreign agent, and that they are attempting to provide support to ISIS.

The eighth man comes from southern Israel. He recently finished some medical studies in Jordan. He has also been charged with supporting ISIS and intending to go to Syria to fight along with other ISIS members.

The Shin Bet security service in Israel claims that it has arrested the first known ISIS cell inside the country. The security agency believes that around 30 individuals, Arab Israelis, have joined the group in Syria and are fighting with them there.

Seven of the men have admitted that they are members of ISIS. It is believed that the men were on the verge of conducting an attack in Israel.

One of the men, Adnan Jamil Ala a-Din, has labeled himself as the “Islamic State chief of staff in Palestine.” He is 39 years old and has been a public defender from the city of Nazareth.

Two of the men are brothers, and one of the other men is a cousin to them. The group would meet and discuss radical Islam. Together, the group then decided to join Islamic State in June of last year.

At a horse ranch in Galilee, they would practice making firebombs and other weapons. They also bought animals so that they could practice slaughtering people by killing the animals.

The cousin, Karim Abu Salah, was arrested last week when he went to Ben Gurion airport and was headed toward Syria. He was carrying about $10,000 that he was planning on giving to ISIS once he met with them. He has been charged with planning to kill Israeli security members and Israeli Druze. Salah was accused, the arrest documents stated, that he was trying to buy automatic weapons and to raise money for them.

The public defender, Ala a-Din, was released from public duties because of comments he made that were in support of the Islamic terror groups. Admitting that he supported ISIS, using the Arabic acronym of “Daesh,” he stated that he was doing God’s work and was following His orders.

Although court orders had earlier sealed information about the arrests, it later cleared it for public release. The documents indicated that the arrests of eight men working with an ISIS terror cell, that they are accused of being, had made plans for different types of attacks on Israeli civilians and members of the military.
