Customers at Walmart can get the plans by choosing from four different types of phones, although more types of phones will be available at the end of February.
Virgin Mobile USA will be offering no-contract data-sharing plans through an exclusive deal with Walmart starting Jan. 17.
Walmart is offering four different types of 4G LTE smartphones: the HTC Desire 510, LG Tribute, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime, and the LG Volt, all priced between $100 and $150, and all have the Virgin Mobile data-sharing application, according to PC Magazine.
The retailer expects to offer more phones with the plan by the end of next month.
Under the terms of the deal, customers will be able to share data between the devices, with the option to add data for $10 per month for every extra gigabyte.
The plans start at $65 for two lines and include 4 gigabytes of 3G/4G LTE data, plus unlimited talk. If customers want three lines, it will cost $90 per month for 8GB, and fourlines are $115 for 12GB.
Video streaming will be limited to 3G said and devices will drop to 3G when 4G isn’t available. When the data limits are reached, the phones will further reduce to 2G speeds, according to Virgin Mobile.
Customers will be able to surf social media and music-streaming apps, including services like Pandora and Instagram, without using data allotment for just $5 per month, although this is only good for one device, according to the report.
Virgin Mobile claims to not have any additional monthly line fees and “flexible” options for international plans.
In order to activate a new line, you have to purchase a $20 starter kit, which includes two months of unlimited music streaming.
Customers can also get single-line unlimited plans at Walmart for $35 per month for 300 talk minutes, which includes unlimited text and 2.5 GB of high-speed data, or they can opt for $45 plans that includes unlimited calls and texts, as well as 2.5 GB of data.
