Larry Page currently occupies the 16th spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and Sergey Brin occupies the 19th spot.
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is now worth $33.3 billion, making him the world’s 15th richest person on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Although Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates occupies the top spot on the world’s wealthiest people list, Facebook’s better-than-expected second quarter results pushed Zuckerberg past Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
Page currently occupies the 16th spot on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and Brin occupies the 19th spot.
According to Bloomberg, Facebook’s second quarter results increased Zuckerberg’s fortune by $1.6 billion.
“He’s just getting started,” David Kirkpatrick, CEO of Techonomy Media Inc., told Bloomberg in a telephone interview. “He’s going to become the richest person on the planet.”
Zuckerberg is also wealthier than Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, who occupies the the 22nd spot on the index.
“We had a good second quarter,” Zuckerberg said in a statement accompanying Facebook’s second quarter results. “Our community has continued to grow, and we see a lot of opportunity ahead as we connect the rest of the world.”
