Former ‘Baywatch’ star Nicole Eggert suffers ‘swelling and bruising’ after ‘Splash’ dive

"Baywatch" actress took to Twitter Saturday in an attempt to deny the severity of her diving injuries.

Former “Baywatch” star Nicole Eggert suffered “swelling and bruising” Wednesday after attempting a dive during ABC’s celebrity diving competition “Splash.”

TMZ reported Friday that the actress was hospitalized after injuring herself on the set of “Splash.” Sources told the gossip website that Eggert was attempting a complicated dive that involved several backflips, but that something went horribly wrong and she landed in the water back first.

TMZ added that Eggert was pulled out of the pool by EMTs and transported to a hospital so that doctors could make sure that she didn’t have any internal injuries from landing in the water in such an awkward position.

However, the “Baywatch” actress took to Twitter Saturday in an attempt to deny the severity of her diving injuries. She tweeted that she is not in the hospital, was never in a diving accident and only has “swelling and bruising” on her back and kidneys.

She did, however, admit that she went to see a doctor on Thursday after taping an episode of “Splash.” She added that the media “has gone wild” with news of her injuries.

A rep for “Splash” confirmed to E! News that Eggert suffered “a bad landing” and that she is consulting with a doctor.

Eggert isn’t the first celebrity diver to get injured on ABC’s “Splash.” According to the New York Daily News, swimsuit model Katherine Webb left the show due to a back injury and Chuy Bravo ended his run on the hit show after sustaining a fractured heel. Though skier Rory Bushfield ruptured an eardrum during a high-dive, he opted to stay on the show.

Is Eggert playing down her injury so that she can return to “Splash” or was the extent of her injury exaggerated by the media? Will Eggert stay in the competition? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
