I’ve already written about this but they just won’t shut up. I imagine I may write about it again. First Martin Sheen get’s political and now Meryl Streep is firing off. Streep would have us believe that she has entered the life of a whore, a witch, and a zombie to bring us such classics as Mama Mia, Into the Woods, and Death Becomes Her.

At the Golden Globe Awards she said “An actor’s only job is to enter the lives of people who are different from us and let you feel what that feels like.”

So according to her, her role as Donna in Mama Mia was to help us feel what it feels like to be her character… a woman who slept with at least three guys within the same week to a month and doesn’t even know which one of them is the father of her child. In Into the Woods we are supposed to feel what it feels like to be an evil witch who has lost her beauty and makes everyone suffer in a narcissistic attempt to get it back. And in Death Becomes Her we are supposed to feel what it feels like to be a murderous un-dead woman who has discovered the fountain of youth.

I am so glad that we have these people who are so in touch with reality whose only job is to enter the lives of people who are different from us and let us know what that feels like. Someone should tell her at least that witches and zombies are not real.

That night she also said, “Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners and if we kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”

But she was born in NJ so unfortunately if all foreign actors were kicked out she would remain. And she can forget trying to act the part of an outsider. Streep was born the daughter of a pharmaceutical executive and was a cheerleader in high school for crying out loud. Not exactly what most would consider an outsider.

And for the record Donald Trump is not against outsiders or foreigners. He has good relations with Putin and Netanyahu already. And those who voted for him have felt like outsiders for quite some time. Its why we see joke memes with Trump and Putin shirtless on a horse. Its why Trump is good friends with Dennis Rodman and Gary Busey who I am sure everyone can admit is an outsider. Gary Busey said said “I know him personally. I know him professionally. He’s a great guy. He’s sharp. He’s fast. He can change the country after the last eight years” during an appearance on Fox News in September. And Rodman who tweeted back in July “@realDonaldTrump has been a great friend for many years. We don’t need another politician, we need a businessman like Mr. Trump! Trump 2016.”

Let us not take the political issue of ILLEGAL immigration and confuse it with hatred of outsiders, bullying, or racism. It is PATRIOTISM. One who takes pride in their country doesn’t stand for people coming here “undocumented” and illegally. There are proper channels and they exist for a reason.

Again I find myself asking why these people think that we would ever listen to them.
