British Prime Minister urges strikes on ISIS in Syria

As French President Hollande attempts to build an international collation against ISIS, British PM urges for stronger military action.

Following suit of other world leaders, British Prime Minister David Cameron is urging that further action be taken in the fight against ISIS. French President Francois Hollande is in the process of putting together an international collation against the group.

CNN reports that Cameron met with the British Parliament on Thursday, arguing that additional military action is necessary to counter ISIS and any threat they may pose to the country. In his statements to Parliament, Cameron said that Britain needs “to take action now, to help protect us against the terrorism seen on the streets of Paris and elsewhere.”

The British Parliament is expected to vote next week on whether or not to increase Britain’s military force against ISIS. The UK has already conducted strikes near Iraq, but has not taken action in Syria.

Cameron expressed his feelings on increased military force shortly after Hollande met with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. Later Thursday evening Hollande is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The French president will be making more than a handful of stops with world leaders this week. He will meet with Cameron, U.S. President Barack Obama, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in attempts to create a global collation with the mutual goal of combating the Muslim extremists.

Since the Nov. 13 attacks Hollande has said that France is at war with the terror group, and is determined to destroy it.

Attempts at a global alliance may prove difficult when it comes to Russia and the United States. Russia’s coordination with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his future role in Syria has some concerned.
