The Carolina Panthers went to 10-0 with a convincing win over Washington while the Baltimore Ravens seem to keep losing even when they win as their star quarterback, Joe Flacco, went down with a season ending injury.
The Carolina Panthers (10-0) stayed undefeated as they crushed the Washington Redskins (4-6), 44 – 16. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had a stellar day as he went 21 of 34 for 246 yards and he threw for five touchdowns in a win that has put an exclamation point on Carolina’s season thus far.
The Panthers started out looking a bit sluggish, but then put the offense into high gear, according to The Washington Post. The Redskins continue to struggle in an extremely weak NFC East and could do little to slow down the Carolina offense. There was a time when Washington was behind by only a touchdown, but their defense couldn’t slow Carolina down at all. The Panthers are one of only just two undefeated teams left in the league. The other, the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots (9-0), take on the Buffalo Bills (5-4) on Monday night.
Baltimore Raves quarterback Joe Flacco injured his knee and is said to be out for the rest of the season. It has been that kind of disappointing season for the Baltimore Ravens (3-7) as the defeated the St. Louis Rams (4-5) in a thriller, 16-13. With just a few seconds left in the game, Flacco went down and tore ligaments in his knee and that was it for his season. On top of that, the Ravens lost their running back Justin Forsett to injury also.
In other action, Brock Osweiler, who has come off the bench to lead Denver for the injured Peyton Manning, got off to a flying start. He led the Broncos to a touchdown on their first drive and only took four plays to do it. Also, Cam Newton wasn’t the only quarterback to toss five touchdown passes on Sunday. Rookie Jaemis Winston threw five as his Tampa Bay Buccaneers simply destroyed what remnants are left of Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles.
