A teenager who caused the closing of his college was found on Saturday in a wooded area north of Philadelphia. He was described as a troubled boy who was trying to navigate some difficult times.

A young and deeply troubled student at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, was found dead in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Police stated that Jacob Marberger, 19, shot himself. Marberger had been a sophomore at the college and his parents had reported him missing to the college on Monday.

His parents told the college that they were not able to determine his whereabouts and that Jacob had a gun in his possession. The administration at Washington College immediately closed the school after talking with Marberger’s parents, reports USA Today. The school officials were going to re-open the school for classes on Tuesday but said they had received new information from the police. Based on the new information they had received from police, school officials decided to close the campus until after the Thanksgiving holiday.

The teen’s body was found by the Pennsylvania State Police on Saturday. They found Marberger in a wooded area of the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary located in Kempton, Pennsylvania. The police also located the sport utility vehicle he had been driving. State police reported that he died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Marberger had been going through some difficult times of late. He had been wanted on a couple of charges regarding him having brought an antique gun to school to show members of his Phi Delta Theta fraternity. For an undisclosed reason, Marberger was asked to leave the fraternity and he then was officially kicked out by them.

In addition, he had been removed from his position as the student government’s speaker of the senate. Again, reasons have not yet been disclosed. Washington College is a private college that specializes in the liberal arts. It has 1,450 students who attend according to school sources.

The Hawk Mountain Sanctuary where Marberger had killed himself is about 80 miles from Philadelphia. Marberger had lived in Philadelphia with his parents prior to attending college.
