President Obama told Americans that terrorism will not be the new norm and he continued the rhetoric of the United States being determined to defeat the Islamic State.
On Sunday, President Barak Obama stepped up the political rhetoric in an effort to assure all Americans that he would do everything it takes to defeat the Islamic State. The president stated that Americans should not be fearful, or think that terrorism is going to be a normal way of life.
Obama said that he is going to increase American military efforts to bring defeat to the Islamic States and he said it is “not only a realistic goal, we’re going to get it done.” The president was wrapping up a nine-day trip to three Asian nations when he made his remarks concerning his new-found stance on the Islamic State, reports The Los Angeles Times.
The president said that he was resolved to use “every aspect of American power” to defeat the Islamic State. Obama has been rather sensitive of late concerning his views on the Islamic State situation. He promised not to send in ground troops into Syria by many critics believe the president is too Muslim friendly and dismissive of the situation.
The president is also accused of being too light on the subject as he described the Islamic State as “just a bunch of killers with good social media.” This was the response he gave to a question about how he was looking to explain the Islamic State threat to the American people.
Obama said it was most important that everyone not buy into the idea that the Islamic State was important and that what they were doing could have grave consequences for the world. He said that “the most powerful tool we have to fight… is to say that we’re not afraid.”
When the president returns from Malaysia he will meet with French president Francois Hollande next week at the White House. France is part of the American-led coalition battling the Islamic State in Syria. The two presidents will discuss future steps for dealing them.
