A 22-year-old pregnant woman was attacked with a knife in the Bronx on Friday night by a possible female rival. When police arrived, they found that the baby had been surgically sliced from the mother's womb.
In the Bronx borough of New York City, a 22- year old pregnant woman was attacked in a knife assault on Friday night. When the police found her, she was lying in a pool of blood suffering from multiple stab wounds. Her attacker had also surgically cut the baby from her womb.
The unidentified pregnant woman was about nine moths pregnant when she was attacked by another 22-year-old woman who was screaming at the police, saying that she was the baby’s real mother, reports The New York Times. The investigation is still ongoing and police have not identified either woman involved in the incident. The screaming woman remains in custody and police believe she was involved in the attack of a possible rival.
There was blood everywhere as forensic investigators tried to get DNA samples to see who, indeed, may be the real mother of the baby who was cut from the mothers stomach. The baby, miraculously, is alive and apparently doing well at a nearby Bronx hospital.
The screaming woman suspect’s boyfriend was questioned by police and released. It is not known if he has any connection to the attack. When they arrived on the scene, New York City police officers stabilized the scene as best they could and tended to the baby. The baby was laid on the hood of a vehicle and checked over and kept warm until the ambulance arrived to take it to the hospital.
Police believe that the two women were rivals, but also have a theory that is was an attempted baby snatching. Neighbors heard the commotion going on at 3 a.m. This is a closely knit and safe neighborhood and no one has seen such violence in the neighborhood.
