A pregnant woman was holding on by her fingertips from a third-floor balcony at the nightclub in Paris that was attacked last Friday night. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, a man reached out the window and hauled her up, saving her from certain death.
A pregnant woman who found herself dangling on a Paris balcony during the attack on the Le Bataclan nightclub on Friday has finally had an opportunity to meet and thank the man who saved her from certain death. The woman had escaped from the concert that had been going on at the nightclub and ran up some stairs to escape, when she suddenly found herself dangling off of a third-floor balcony, clinging to the ledge with her fingertips.
The 1,500 people in the club were listening to a music concert when Islamic State gunmen roared into the concert hall and opened fire with AK-47s. During the attack 89 people were murdered. Paris police stormed the nightclub and killed the gunmen.
Hanging from the balcony for several minutes, the woman was screaming for help and desperately trying to hold on as her fingers were losing their grip on the edge. Suddenly a man reached out of a window and hauled her up into the safety of the nightclub. In the ensuing chaos the woman never got to properly thank her rescuer, or to even find out his name.
There has been a huge social media search that has tracked down the pregnant woman’s rescuer. The two have gotten to meet and the woman finally got her chance to thank her savior. The rescue was caught on cell phone video and was immediately aired all over French television. Over the weekend, the Twittersphere was abuzz with people trying to track down the pair.
The club was in complete chaos and the two quickly got separated after the rescue. The man who had made the rescue told the French media that after the gunmen had attacked the club he made an escape to the upstairs while the gunman nearest to him was reloading his rifle. That, he said, was when her heard a woman screaming for help.
When he returned to the chaos, he was confronted by one of the gunman and was told to lie face down and not to move. The man told of how waiting there to be killed were the longest minutes of his life because no one knew if anyone was coming to save them.
