POP NEWS: Madonna Cries at Concert; Ariel Winter Shames the Shamers

At her concert performance on Saturday night in Stockholm, Madonna was overcome with emotion and shared it with the audience while Modern Family star Ariel Winter goes off on the body shamers.

Music legend Madonna shared an intensely emotional moment with her fans on Saturday night. She was performing in concert in Stockholm, Sweden, when she paused and asked the audience to share a moment of silence with her regarding the horrific terrorist attacks that happened in Paris on Friday.

She became emotional and choked up when she addressed the audience, reports USA Today. She said that she had felt conflicted about putting on the concert the day after the horrible tragedy. But, she went on to say, that is what the terrorists wanted and “that is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up, they want to silence us. And we won’t let them.”

She then asked for a moment of silence and then went on to sing Like A Prayer. Madonna said that it was extremely hard to perform the show but that there “was so much love in this arena that it made me feel like we were turning darkness into light.”

After Modern Family star Ariel Winter had posted a photo to her Instagram account, the attacks began to come. The photo showed her on a boat with her two young nieces. She was wearing a rather tasteful bikini but certain people took exception to it. Apparently, Winter was asking for it by wearing such a swimsuit, reports USA Today.

Winter became enraged at what she considers to be the “Body Shamers.” She wrote, “Who knew that an innocent photo with my nieces would turn into this? The height of a girl’s skirt, or whatever she is wearing, does not imply what she is asking for. It sickens me to think at 17 years old a photo of myself with my niece’s is suggesting that I’m ‘asking for it’. I typically never give power to the mean things people bravely say behind their computer screens on the Internet, but this is for the girls who are constantly bullied whether it be online or at school.”

Winter went on to say that what a person is wearing has no impact on such vile comments. When a girl wears certain clothing she said, “you are expressing yourself and don’t ever think you deserve the negativity as the consequence of what you are wearing – you are beautiful! Celebrate you and don’t let anyone’s comments allow you to think less of yourself. Us girls have to stick together!”
