Gun Smuggling Underground Continues to Thrive Despite State Sanctions

It doesn't matter what state's laws are regarding guns. It doesn't matter what liberal politicians who want complete gun control in America say. The gun smuggling underground continues to thrive in America and there isn't anything anyone can do about it.

Gun smuggling is alive and well in America. The gun runners have no interest in, or fear of, law enforcement or of any liberal sensibilities toward gun control. There continues to be a thriving gun smuggling underground in the country that reportedly moves more than 50,000 guns every year across state lines into the hands of those willing to pay for them.

Much of the gun traffic goes through what is known as The Iron Pipeline. It is a corridor of Interstate 95 that runs the guns up from certain Southern states into states like New York, New Jersey, and  further north into New England, according to The New York Times. They make their way from states like Georgia, Florida and Virginia, and others, that have few, if any, gun control laws. In response to many of the recent mass shootings, knee jerk politicians have passed more gun control laws and 20 states have done so in recent weeks. The laws are passed to dictate how citizens may buy guns and how they may carry them.

This is all moot to the gun runners. They are thriving despite all attempts to slow them down. All they see happening is that standing governments continue to ignore the Second Amendment and disarm the citizenry of the country at will until it gets to the point where only soldiers and police officers have guns.

In Chicago, one of the gun smugglers favorite cities, many local smugglers can just drive across the border into Indiana, buy a huge amount of guns, and then just drive back to Chicago and sell them in almost no time at all. Gun runners in Orlando will buy a bunch of cheap and broken down cars, fill them to the brim with firearms, and then put them on a ship bound for their most lucrative market – Puerto Rico. Orlando has a large Puerto Rican population and more guns that are sold on the island are bought from Orlando than in Puerto Rico itself.

Of course, you also have the civilized gun runners in California. They simply ship everything Federal Express. Again, in Chicago, there are no retail gun shops because the city has some of the most stifling gun laws in the country. So, everyone just drives to Indiana where there are no background checks and gun sales don’t have to be recorded for government perusal.

A recent survey of prison inmates in Chicago found that less than one percent of them had bought a gun at a gun store or gun show. For the Orlando smugglers, if they think that law enforcement has caught on, they will ship in newer model cars or simply mail or FedEx their shipments from Jacksonville instead. One postal official stated that if the U.S. Postal Service had to inspect every package that came into Puerto Rico, the whole economy would shut down.

The gun runners have their techniques and long standing strategies. Their presence is so overwhelming that law enforcement just can’t put the resources into it that it might want to. Doing so would clog up law enforcement so severely that other crimes would begin rise and fewer criminals would be apprehended because of the shortages of resources.
