Customer Shoots and Kills a Thief Robbing a Neighborhood Chicago Store

An armed customer of a small Chicago neighborhood store foiled a robbery attempt as he shot and killed a masked gunman during a robbery attempt.

A man who shot and killed a masked gunman in a small neighborhood Chicago store will not be charged according to Chicago Police. The police have ruled that the customer who shot the would be robber was acting in self defense. The police determined this after reviewing video security footage and talking to various witnesses.

The man who stopped the robbery has not been identified, according to Fox News. The police did mention, however, that the customer who prevented the robbery was carrying a concealed weapon and that he had a permit and legal right to be carrying it. The would be robber walked in to a neighborhood currency exchange store on Saturday night. He was wearing a mask and produced a gun informing everyone that he was conducting a robbery.

The gunman began pointing his handgun at various employees instructing them to move away from him. It was when the robber was waving his gun that the armed customer drew his weapon and shot and killed him. The store is located on the city’ South Side and no one, other than the robber, was injured in the incident.

This was just another in a long line of incidents where armed citizens have actually prevented violence and crime by being armed. There are over thirteen million Americans who carry concealed weapons everyday and many states have open carry laws. The police chief of Detroit recently publicly encouraged the citizens of Detroit to arm themselves to help prevent violence and crime.

In Detroit alone, three crimes were recently prevented as a pastor stopped a man from attacking him with a brick, a 63 year old man stopped someone who was attempting to rob him at an ATM, and a 23 year old stopped a trio of robbers looking to do him harm.

Stories like these are numerous from around the country as the debate continues. Are guns causing more crime or is an armed citizenry actually preventing further violence and crime? Most of the time the police don’t get there until after an incident has happened. It is examples like the above mentioned that have actually been stopping the crime before it can be committed.
