Domestic dispute ends in fatal shooting at a social security office

In Salinas, California a double homicide occurred on Thursday morning outside of a federal office.

A couple from Garden Grove, a 50-year-old man and his 32-year-old estranged wife were involved in the incident. At 8:45a, officers responded to a call reporting shots fired with possible victims in a parking lot in the middle of a highly trafficked industrial area, according to police Commander Vince Maiorana.

Minutes later, four officers arrived at the Social Security Administration and Internal Revenue Service offices reported from the call. When they arrived, they found two people dead two others injured by gunfire, according to CBS.

According to the report, the husband, the suspect, allegedly fired multiple shots at his estranged wife as well as three of her relatives, her aunt, uncle and cousin.

Officers and investigators determined that the suspect and his wife were having marital issues. The incident stemmed from the wife leaving her husband and Garden Grove for Salinas to stay with relatives.

The report shows the suspect arriving in the immediate area days prior. At the time of the incident, he had followed the woman and her relatives in a vehicle which ended up at the Social Security Administration.

After exchanging words, the suspect fired. The two deceased victims were the woman’s aunt and her uncle. The woman and her cousin were reported as being transported to the hospital with significant gunshot injuries.

At this time, the woman is reported as in critical condition while her cousin is in stable condition. The suspect has been cooperating with the police and was taken immediately into custody without incident. He also confessed openly to the crime and is now being processed at Salinas police headquarters where he will then be booked into Monterey County jail.
