Saturday morning Tali Lennox was pulled from the water by a boat after her kayak capsized, but her boyfriend, also on board, Ian Jones, was not.
Jones, 32, and artist and model, was kayaking with his girlfriend, Lennox, Saturday in the Hudson River when suddenly their kayak flipped them into the water. Luckily, Lennox, 22, was pulled from the water by a passing boat, but Mr. Jones has not yet been found, according to The New York Times.
The search resumed Monday morning at 8am by crews from the County Sherriff’s Office. Capt. John Waterson of the Dutchess County Sherriff’s Office said, “We are expecting to find him, but as time goes on the chances of finding him alive are less and less.”
Lennox, daughter of singer Annie Lennox and Uri Fruchtmann, is also a model and artist. Her work has been seen on the runways for Burberry, Prada and Marc Jacobs as well as in magazines and ads. Her recent art exhibition ran at New York’s Catherine Ahnell Gallery.
Jones’, a model, artist and also photographer, recently was on the first cover of L’Officiel Hommes magazine and took part in the Berluti runway show in Paris in June.
Lennox and Jones were not only a couple, but they collaborated their efforts on an art project which was a series of homeless “Street Kids” (the title) from the East Village. The two were profiled in Teen Vogue earlier this year as artists on the rise.
Captain Watterson said that although the kayaking on the Hudson River was an everyday occurrence and rarely would an incident like this happen, but because of that, most people also underestimate the danger on the river.
“Going in the Hudson River, or any river, is not like going in a lake or a pool,” he said. “There is a current and it can be pretty rough. Once you get out there and realize, it can be too late.”
