Gaming geeks were excited at the arrival of Windows 10 -- but after some serious problems, some aren't so sure.
Today is the day that software giant Microsoft launches its long anticipated Windows 10 operating system. So what can you expect?
You can download Windows 10 at its download page, the newest operating system available, according to a CNET report.
But, you better back up your data first, says the tech expert who penned the CNET report, and in fact he recommends a rollback tool like Easeus System GoBack, in case things go disastrously long, according to the report. Windows 10 has its own rollback feature, but it expires just a month later.
Unfortunately for you gamers out there, Windows 10 creates a pretty big problem. Especially if you’re a League of Legends fan: they’re getting a black screen when they’re hoping for the game to load.
There’s been fixes circulating around the Internet, but this problem is not a new one, according to a Segment Next report. Typically, what happens is they click on the LoL launcher, they click “properties” and “compatibility,” and then disable high DPI settings, as well as “Run as Administrator,” and then uncheck compatibility mode. This should hopefully fix the black screen problem.
However, it indicates some fundamental problems with the Windows 10 operation system on its initial launch.
Still, it happens even with the best of software, so “hopefully” — the report states — engineers will figure out a workaround, and other games that have problems with Windows 10 will figure it out, although not necessarily.
Windows 10 was officially unveiled back in September 2014, with public beta testing in October of that year. The official release was on July 29, with volume licensing on Aug. 1.
In general, there has been positive reviews about Windows 10 since being released last month, with critics arguing that Microsoft made the right decision in downplaying the interface mechanics of Windows 8.
