Development of communication mechanisms to 'talk to' aliens has received both credibility and large donations in the wake of the recent discovery of "earth's twin" a few thousand light years away.
The scientific world, and earthlings in general, have been awed by the recent discovery of an earth-like planet featuring its own nearby sun a few thousand light years away. But some very wealthy speculative investors are turning to a special segment of the scientific community to search for alien life in outer space: extraterrestrial researchers.
The very prominent scientist Stephen Hawking, finds folly in the efforts and cautions that inviting alien life to visit earth likely would have negative results for our planet. But investors and other scientists consider communication at least a likely, if not inevitable next step.
The SETI Institute focuses on the search for extraterrestrial life. Reports from CBC reveal Russian billionaire Yuri Milner is making a $100 million donation to the SETI Institute to aid them in this search. SETIs work identified as Active SETI is a particular target. Active SETI aims specifically to send messages into outer space in an effort to communicate with whatever beings lie beyond.
Milner has also issued a ten-year cumulative donation to the Breakthrough Listen Project anchored at The University of California- Berkeley. The Breakthrough Listen Project has contracts with two of the world’s biggest radio telescope. This work allocates radio telescope monitoring for extraterrestrial signals.
Such large donations coupled with the recent findings of the earth-like planet are giving extraterrestrial research scientists new credibility.
