A man was arrested in the shooting of three teens from Wednesday night on the streets on Baltimore.
25-year old Keon White was taken into police custody Thursday afternoon by the Baltimore Police in relation to the shooting of three teenagers the night before.
The call was made to 911 at 10 p.m. Wednesday night from a multiple amount of callers reporting a shooting that was taking place in the 800 block of North Glover Street, according to CBS Baltimore.
The officers who first responded to the scene found three teens that were shot. The victims included a 16-year-old girl shot in the leg, a 15-year-old boy shot in the chest as well as in the shoulder and a 13-year-old boy shot in the chest.
The three teens were all immediately rushed to the closest hospital where their injuries were treated.
The interim Police Commissioner, Kevin Davis, was one of the officers that personally responded to the scene of the crime.
“We don’t know what the motive was, we know it was an outdoor shooting scene and we know we have one shooter,” Davis said. “That’s the bad news. The good news is I’ve been out here for several minutes now, the community is stepping up. It’s certainly unacceptable for this community to see three teenagers being shot on a beautiful summer night like this and it’s my impression that they’ve had enough.”
On the same night of the shooting of the three teens, only minutes later, three other young men ages 21 to 37 were shot in Baltimore. All of these victims are also expected to survive their injuries.
Unfortunately, that was not the last shooting reported on the streets of Baltimore that night. Another man was shot just after 11 p.m. who did not survive.
Davis reported in a press conference that the suspect in the shooting of the three teens was found shortly after the crime after they first located his car.
“They pointed us in the direction of a particular house last night where we thought our shooter may have run into,” Davis said. “That’s why you saw the swat team out there last night. He wasn’t in there but we found him not too far away after we found his car.”
The local community is outraged and frustrated with the crimes in their area. Community leaders are speaking up in concern, seeing that children are not only becoming the victims of these crimes, but often, kids are also responsible for the violence.
