Obamacare benefits some states while devastating others

The Affordable Care Act, also known as “Obamacare” has been unfolding for a year and a half crossing the nation, but unfortunately, not in an equally positive movement.

Created to reform the U.S. healthcare system, Obamacare has set out across the states, but the result has not been uniformly positive for all. Not only from state to state, but from hospital to hospital, according to Morning Ticker.

The nation has become divided and continues to separate, some facilities benefiting and making good profits while others are adversely turning to the public for donations in order to stay open.

States most notably that opposed Obamacare, primarily conservative states, are being effected most negatively by the Affordable Care Act. The hospitals that are accepting federal money to broaden Medicaid are receiving funds that are aiding uninsured patients in receiving regular care. But the states that didn’t’ choose to expand Medicaid are suffering the consequences and are not being helped.

Due to these states decisions, Obamacare is indirectly preventing access to healthcare to people that live in those states.

While many individuals across the nation are not receiving health coverage for the first time ever, there are still poor communities that are not seeing any difference at all from the care.

According to statistics, the Affordable Care Act has increased the number of Americans overall with health coverage under Medicaid by 21 percent which also created a parallel effect on the nonprofit hospitals in those states by decreasing their bad debt by 13%.

The Americans that live in the states that did not expand their Medicaid are suffering, and if those states would have done so, the people would have qualified for coverage and received care not previously available. As time goes by, it will be not only the individuals in those areas that feel the hurt, but the hospitals attempting to fund themselves may soon not be able to continue offering care to everybody who needs it.
