Tear-jerking ceremony as terminally ill patient weds longtime partner

Keith Borum and his partner of three years tied the knot at his bedside in an event that he called one of the happiest of his life.

A terminally ill New York man finally married his partner of three years in a tear-jerking ceremony at his bedside.

Keith Borum married Nina Scott of Lake Ronkonkoma in a ceremony at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip as hospital staff looked on, according to a Daily Mail report.

Borum faces a terminal diagnosis due to having non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which he has been battling for 18 months and was recently told that the cancer would be terminal.

Borum confided in hospital staff that he had hoped to buy an engagement ring for Nina, his girlfriend of three years, and the nurses pooled their money to help make that dream a reality. Others also donated flowers and cakes and wedding rings, and the staff ultimately raised $400 to buy the rings. During the ceremony, the staff was gathered in the hospital room as the couple exchanged vows, all decked out in blue medical gowns that covered their wedding outfits. The gowns are meant to protect Borum from getting an infection.

The new bride said it was a happy moment for Borum, who had been struggling with low spirits and was too weak too walk. The whole situation has been very hard on him, but the wedding provided a major lift to him as a happy event, and he even found a little bit of his old humor, swiping his wife’s sunglasses and wearing them.

After the vows were exchanged and the minister pronounced them man and wife, they shared a kiss to seal the deal.
