Authorities have come to suspect that a 6-month-old who has gone missing is in the possession of her father, who is on the run.
California authorities are seeking the public’s help in trying to track down a “person of interest” in the disappearance of a 6-month-old girl, and that person of interest happens to be 23-year-old Matthew Graham, her father — a man that police are warning is armed and dangerous.
Graham allegedly skipped a meeting with his probation officer and stole his mother’s gun, cell phone, and some cash, and he is now the subject of a massive manhunt, according to a New York Daily News report.
It was Graham who first reported that Ember, his young daughter, was missing back on July 2. However, his statements were inconsistent and police began to suspect that he may have been the one who took his daughter, especially after he was reportedly spotted the night before driving around with his daughter. Graham claimed he was just trying to calm her down and get her to fall asleep, but police weren’t convinced.
Once they started poking around and asked his mother about a pacifier that turned up in a remote area in Ono, Calif., Graham allegedly swiped the gun and bolted, and police are trying to figure out where he is.
Graham was in jail last week on probation violation charges after a forgery and driving under the influence conviction, but in a much-criticized decision, the judge in the case let him go and didn’t require him to have a monitoring bracelet. As a condition of his release, he was supposed to meet with his probation officer.
