On Tuesday, eBay announced that it would ban the sale of the flags and “many items containing this image,” Johanna Hoof, an eBay spokeswoman, told USA TODAY network.

Ebay called the flag a “contemporary symbol of divisiveness and racism.”

In the wake of this tragedy, Amazon saw overwhelming demand for Confederate flag products. However, Amazon has now announced that they will join other retailers on banning the flag.

Amazon has more than 29,000 listings for Confederate flags, posters, knives and other memorabilia.
