Report: Apple’s iPhone 6 is getting bigger — hopes to take on Samsung Galaxy

And the tech giant is looking to take on Samsung with its new design that is catching the attention of consumers.

A new leak of the iPhone 6S has revealed some big changes in the device — including a significant size increase.

The leaker, Ming-Chi Kuo, said on a blog that the first change we can expect is a slightly larger platform due to the need to integrate Force Touch, the big new feature that will come with the iPhone 6, according to a Forbes report.

As a result, the iPhone 6S will be about 0.2mm thicker, about 0.15mm taller, just a tad wider than the iPhone 6 — certainly not very noticeable changes unless you have both models and compare them closely. However, this increase in size will also mean an increase in weight.

It also appears that the Apple Watch will be influencing some design changes as well, most notably a difference in color, as the 6S colors will be made to more closely resemble Apple Watch options to help with brand synergy. That means a gold iPhone 6S will probably appear to be a bit more on the yellow side, while “space grey” will show up darker.

Another change will be a different aluminum grade, which will make the iPhone 6 a stronger piece of hardware — probably a boon for the clumsy among us who have dropped their share of phones. It will use what is called 7000 Series aluminum, which was first used on the Apple Watch in another tie-in. This aluminum uses zinc in its alloy, allowing it to be much harder, so the “bendable” problems with previous iPhones won’t happen with this one.
