Police: Connecticut mom feeds children ice cream, then kills them

LeRoya Moore, 36, is accused of killing her two kids and then leaving a suicide note before she was caught by police.

A Connecticut mother who allegedly killed two of her children apparently planned on committing suicide before she was captured, police believe after finding a suicide note that they believe is hers.

LeRoya Moore, 36, has been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of reckless endangerment after two children were found dead in her home in East Haven, and a suicide note was found near the children’s bodies that details her decision to kill them, according to a FOX CT report.

Officers found the bodies of 6-year-old Aleisha and 7-year-old Daaron after officers responded to a medical call, and found that the gas had been turned on by someone. A 911 call made by Moore’s friend indicated that she had threatened to hurt herself and had cuts on her arms.

Moore had given her friend a letter, prompting the friend to contact police. When a police officer called Moore, he convinced her to leave the home from the second-floor door, and police approached her, seeing cuts on her wrists.

When police entered the home, they noticed a strong natural gas smell. They found the children, both dead and fully clothed, lying on the floor. They had been dead for a while, police said.

Near the feet of the children was a letter with a signature matching Moore’s, claiming that the children didn’t suffer and “we were meant to die today.” She said she had done it to be merciful as the children were in pain by being left “to the system,” and that God failed to tell her to stop. She said she even gave them their favorite things that day, including ice cream and painting nails.

Moore allegedly told officers that she stabbed the children, and that “I released them.” She said she had also opened the gas line. However, there were no signs of blunt force trauma or puncture wounds as a cause of death, and police are still awaiting final word on what caused their deaths. About 46 bottles of prescription medications were found, including painkillers.
