French Montana’s Protege, Chinx Drugz dies at 31 in a drive-by shooting in Briarwood, Queens

Police responded to a 911 call in Briarwood, Queens on May 17, 2015 early Sunday morning around 4:00 a.m. Two victims were found in a car on 84th Drive and Queens Boulevard. Lionel Pickens, who’s known as “Chinx Drugz,” an up and coming rapper and Protégé to French Montana was found dead after enduring multiple shots to the body. The 31-year-old was accompanied by a 27-year-old passenger who was also shot twice in the back.

The shooter’s care sped off as Chinx’s silver Porsche Panamera 4 stopped approximately one block away from where the incident started. Right in front of a Dunkin’ Donuts is where the rapper made his last stop with at least seven visible bullet holes on his vehicle.

A nearby coffee shop employee stated that Chinx appeared to be lifeless when the police arrived on the scene, however, he was pronounced dead at Jamaica Medical Center due to the gunshot wounds. His friend who was the second victim in the car, is listed in critical but stable condition according to police.

Chinx released his first solo album in 2009 but had been featured in several collaborations with big name stars such as NORE and French Montana with Coke Boys Record label. Chinx first album, “Hurry Up & Die Vo. 1: Get Ya Casket On,” is expected to get more downloads than ever over the next week as his fans mourn the young and promising rapper’s short-lived career.
