That ‘alien’ in those Roswell photos? It’s actually a mummified child

It was presented as proof that aliens exist at a conference Mexico City recently, but internet detectives sniffed it out as a perfectly human body.

A so-called UFO researcher who supposedly made an astounding discovery of a tiny alien body being transported from the 1947 Roswell crash decades ago was actually showing off the mummified body of a child.

In an event marketed as proof that aliens exist, presenters at a UFO conference in Mexico City showed two photographs that it said were from a trunk in Sedona, Ariz., and were of an alien body from the mysterious Roswell crash that has become the stuff of legend, according to a Discovery News report.

People packed the arena where the special was being showed, and the event got publicity from around the world — however, upon closer inspection, the reality was a lot less interesting.

The presenters at the conference even had a Kodak representative authenticate that the film came from the 1940s, but internet detectives used a program called Smart Deblur to identify the lettering on a plaque in front of the body, which was apparently in a display case. It appears to say “Mummified Body of Two Year Old Boy” and “San Francisco Museum” below that.

Even UFO authors were embarrassed by the publicity, with Nigel Watson, author of UFO Investigations Manual, calling it a “shame” that such photos were presented as evidence of aliens and the event “has tarnished the reputation of all the so-called experts who attended this event,” according to a Metro.co.uk report. He added that it was the “lowest point” UFO research has ever stooped to, and even suggested that it was intentional to undermine ufology.

Promoters had said the photos were taken by a man named Bernard A. Ray, who was an oil exploration geologist who worked near Roswell at the time. Supposedly they were found in a collection of his photos.
