The tornadoes come not long after a similar weather system ravaged Oklahoma.

A series of tornadoes ravaged northern Texas on Saturday, killing one person and leaving others missing in the rural areas near the town of Cisco.

One tornado smashed through Cisco, which is located about 100 miles west of Dallas, flattening homes, according to an Associated Press report.

Authorities went house to house to assess the damage and locate survivors, but heavy rainfall hampered their efforts.

A second tornado touched down near Burkburnett about 15 miles north of Wichita Falls, causing an unknown amount of injuries or fatalities.

Storms elsewhere in the United States hammered southwest Oklahoma with heavy rain and hail the size of a quarter, but the tornado threat in that area was low, fortunately, as the state had been hit by a series of tornadoes earlier in the week.

Western Kansas also got hit with severe storms, and in Kansas City, heavy rain caused NASCAR’s Spring Cup race at Kansas Speedway to stop.

Meteorologists were also monitoring weather systems that stretched across the southern United States coast to coast, which caused the creation of an early tropical storm in the Atlantic and a snowstorm in the Rocky Mountains.

Tropical Storm Ana was just off the coast of South Carolina as of early Sunday, with tropical winds that were only about 45 miles per hour sustained.
