Support is growing for Baltimore protests

The death of Freddie Gray from a spinal cord injury while in policy custody has resonated around the country, with protests springing up everywhere.

The message of activists in Baltimore is starting to gain traction across the United States, as marchers are taking to the streets to protest the death of Freddie Gray at the hands of police.

In Cincinnati, demonstrators are planning their own protest, and there is a “Philly is Baltimore” movement in the City of Brotherly Love that will be held at Philadelphia City Hall, according to a CNN report.

In addition, protests in Seattle, Portland, and Oakland are expect on Friday to call attention to issues affecting minorities.

Demonstrations in a number of cities besides Baltimore have already happened on Wednesday, with hundreds in New York headed into Union Square for an event called “NYC Rise Up & Shut It Down With Baltimore,” as police officers shoved protesters back resulting in a scuffle that led to 20 people being detained on the street with zip ties.

In Washington D.C., 500 protesters chanted “All night, all day, we’re gonna fight for Freddie Gray.” And in Minneapolis and Denver, hundreds gathered to rally for the cause of minorities.
