Firefighters arrived at the scene to find one man still alive and on fire, but they could do nothing as he was behind a heavy gate.
Three have been found dead in South El Monte in Los Angeles yesterday in a fire that was likely started by a Molotov cocktail.
First responders found one person alive but covered in flames after getting a report of a blaze east of downtown Los Angles, according to a Reuters report.
Firefighters were unable to reach the man, who was trapped behind a locked gate. He died from his injuries.
Two additional bodies were found inside the building.
A firefighter was treated for injuries to his face as he tried to help the burning man.
The incident happened at a tire shop, although the sheriff’s office did not officially name the location.
Someone called 911 telling authorities that he had seen multiple suspects through a Molotov cocktail into the business before speeding off. Authorities sitll weren’t sure whether it was Molotov cocktail or a fire bomb.
So far, no arrests have been made.
A Molotov cocktail is a generic name for an improvised incendiary weapon that is rather crudely constructed by filling a bottle with some form of accelerent, stuffed with a rag, lit on fire and then thrown at a target, spreading fire everywhere. It is often used by protesters in riots and in urban guerrilla warfare.
