Zoe Saldana shares getting-fit woes, inspires women who just gave birth

“Avatar” star Zoe Saldana recently shared that her weight climbed to 185 pounds last year when she carried her twins with husband “Burn to Shine” actor Marco Perego, the Huffington Post reports.

The 36-year-old “Guardians of the Galaxy” actress brought her story to Facebook on Friday. She also included a photo of herself running on the treadmill, looking trim and fit.

Saldana revealed that she is currently on a frustrating, painful, and slow journey towards losing the baby weight and restoring her energy under the tutelage of her trainer Steve Moyer. She admitted that while the journey is hard, the hard work is all worth it.

“I was 160lbs (at the peak of my pregnancy, I reached 185lbs). I had weak joints, no flexibility, and exercising was painful. We started with just walking, I think I only walked that first month,” the Saldana wrote.

Husband Perego shared the image on her own Facebook account with an encouraging caption, “Keep Pushing. You are inspiring Me. Always supporting You. Gracias de Todo.”

The actress, who weighed only 115 pounds when she graced the front cover of Allure in 2013, spoke, “I’ve always been a very thin frame. That is how much I weigh, it’s something I can’t control. It’s who I am.

“Bouncing back feels impossible, but I know it is important as a woman, and now a mommy, to not give up,” she continued. “I am determined to get my energy back and find balance for my body before these little guys start walking, and before I go back to work. …. my clock is ticking!”

Perego and Saldana welcomed their twins Bowie and Cy in November 2014.

Saldana shared that coach Moyer began training her in early January and they will continue their work together until June, just before he goes back to work. After the training sessions, she is scheduled to start filming “Star Trek 3.”
