The past 24 hours have been a head-spinner for model Manuela Arbelaez!
When Arbelaez accidentally gave away a brand new car to a contestant on “The Price is Right,” she was instantly front-page news – and terrified that the pricey error was going to cost her her job. Fortunately, the show’s producers are willing to let her off the hook.
In an exclusive interview with Inside Edition, Manuela confessed that she was absolutely certain there would be hell to pay for her mistake. “I thought, A: This is my last day at work. B: They’re going to take it out of my paycheck every week. I thought that was it for me.
“It’s the biggest mistake I ever made on the show,” Arbelaez continued; however “Drew [Carey] could not have been more supportive. Same with the producers. They embraced it and said, ‘We’re not going to pick it out. We’re going to air it as it happened.”
The ‘oops’ occurred during yesterday’s episode of the popular game show, when contestant Andrea had three chances to guess the price of a brand new Hyundai Sonata. Once her first guess for the price tag of the vehicle was revealed, Arbelaez pulled the number to reveal whether it was right or wrong.
The word “No,” was revealed, letting the audience and Andrea know that she had guessed incorrectly, but rather than pausing and waiting for her second guess, the model accidentally pulled the second price tag, which ended up being the winner! Ultimately, Andrea walked off – or rather drove off – with the car.
“I was mortified,” Arbelaez said in the interview. “I was on autopilot. After I heard the buzz I thought, OK, the game was over. What I didn’t realize was that she had two more chances.”
But all’s well that ends well: “I obviously made a very expensive mistake, but I made someone happy,” Manuela said.
